We arrived at our Resort a little earlier than expected and our room was not ready yet. But Bob had some work to do, Maddie was with Mom and Dad, so Ellie and I went out to explore the resort. This was our first time staying on property, and I did not want to spend a lot of money on the room that we would only sleep and shower in. But the girls are still small and we did not need a lot of room. We choose All Star Movies-and Ellie requested the Dalmatians section. We had anticipated a crazy travel with luggage and two girls from the airport. So Mom and Dad took Maddie with them. They were leaving quite a bit after we did, because we had to turn our rental car back in pretty early. Plus it was a Monday morning and we were unsure of traffic into Orlando.
Are rooms would not be ready until later in the day, and they took our luggage and set up delivery to our room when it was ready (I really love Disney's accommodations). So once Mom and Dad arrived and checked in with the same set up, we boarded the to Hollywood Studios. It had the magic hours for hotel guests. This I am sure is what added to the crazy crowd. Also at the end of the day, someone mentioned Columbus Day and how a lot of people in the area are off and all the parks were probably crowded. I never even though about this. It was a little warm and the lines were really long. We had to utilize our fast passes, but it took us the majority of the day to figure out how to work the new system with the arm bands. With the new bands we were only aloud three a day. So rides ran out really early and some rides when we arrived we did not even need to use the fast pass. This was definitely a learning day. There were lots of characters here for the girls. We spent the majority of the day in line to get pictures and autographs. We kinda made a big deal out of this since Ellie is growing up and the next time we come, she may not want to see the characters.
Sofia was definitely the biggest event of the day (and one of the longest waits)
Ellie was barely tall enough to ride the Tower, so Bob, Dad, Nick, and Tyler took her one it. She was not a fan, but I was so proud that she stuck it through and tried it. She is not a kid who does new things and this was huge for her.
We had dinner at Hollywood and Vine. It was a buffet and very yummy, especially the desserts. I am so glad that we opted to get the meal plan. It is nice to not have to worry about the expense of Disney Dining, plus it is better than eating counter service each time because of stressing over the cost.
By the time we made it back to the resort the girls were exhausted and slept so good.
Things to remember for Disney in the future:
1.) Do not go to parks on magic hour days unless we want longer lines and more people.
2.) Decide what rides to get via Fast Pass the night before.
3.) Make sure to utilize the Disney Dining and make reservations ASAP to get the best dining with the best times.
