What a weekend

This has probably been one of the busiest weekends that we have had in a long time. The madness started early on Thursday with a late night of parent teacher conferences and a labor auction fundraiser for the Jr Class (which I sponsor).

Then on Friday I attended a conference in Indy with two of my fellow teachers. The conference was a lot of fun, and I enjoyed hooking up with my IUS posse as well. I got some pretty good ideas and information that I know will come as good use in the classroom.

Saturday DAY I took the morning off. I would have liked to walked in the Susan G Komen Race for the Cure, but I knew this was the only time that I would have this weekend to hang out with Ellie and get normal weekend stuff done. Because Saturday NIGHT we had a wedding to attend. Candace Baird, a good friend of mine, was getting married. We rushed to the church to make it just in time (so our style recently). Ellie did not want to go. Her words "Do I have to be quiet." "Yes, Ellie during the wedding you have to be quiet." "Ok, then I do want to go, can I stay at Memaws?" I told her only if Memaw would come and get her because I was not feeling very well, and I knew I did not have enough time to get her to town and then back to head to Scott County.

The wedding was very nice, and we had a great time at the reception. Candace is related to several members of Bob's family so it was good seeing them.

Then Sunday came around. For our anniversary/Christmas I bought Bob tickets to see the Colts. We have been wanting to go to Lucas Oil to watch a game for some time now. And the perfect opportunity came up. We had great seats (I am a Nascar fan and so the higher the better) even though we had to climb 44 flights of steps after riding two massive escalators. But out of breath we made it. Not only did we have great seats but we had the air conditioning blowing right on us (for a pregnant lady that is amazing). And of course the Colts won (barely...but a W is a W).

UNO

Now this girl can rock a game of UNO. This was one of my favorite games growing up. Bob had never really played it as a kid. A couple of months ago I picked up a game, and we started playing as a family. It took Ellie no time to catch on and now she is pretty good. She does not need much help from us, unless her mind starts wondering. She is good for about three games before she starts to need something else to do. But what can we say, the almost three year old is playing a game recommended for 7+.

My granddaddy only had one arm, so whenever he played cards he would use a reynolds wrap box. I suggested this to Ellie because her hands are too small to hold all the cards. So now she has to have a box before we play.

Sheepfest 2010

Cornucopia

I had mentioned going to Montgomery Farms to some of my fellow Scottsburg teachers and they quickly suggested that we go to Cornucopia Farms in Salem before Montgomery. Since I have not been to either, and they are actually from the community, I took their suggestion and glad I did.

Laura asked if she and her girls could go too, Ellie loves Ally and Emmy. They get along so well.

I had heard rumors that the pumpkin crop this year was not good meaning that not a lot survived our excessively hot summer. I am sure we will make the annual Huber trip, but not until the end of the month. I wanted to make sure that we got a good pumpkin (or two).

When we got home from tumbling Ellie wanted to have a snack with her friend Baby. It took her about 5 minutes to get the "tablecloth" just right (BTW: Goldilocks and the 3 bears is one of her favorite stories.

It's Fall!!!

And it's 100 degrees. Something is not quite right with the statement, but none the less I am not complaining because I am enjoying the extra bit of summer God is giving us this year.

Today Meghan came over to borrow something for her yard sale tomorrow. Eme was so excited to see Ellie and likewise. We told Meg just to leave Eme while she went to set up. I was actually kinda shocked that Em did so well. The girls played pretty well most of the evening, and we only had to remind Ellie to share a few times (this is nice practice for her)

28 Weeks

Had my 28 week check up today. I can not believe how fast this is going. I know this is our last one and it seems like the time is flying by. Everything looks good and the best news of all is that I PASSED by glucose test. All the glory goes to God.

I am now down to three week visits. Now we just need to decide on a name.

Tumbling

Ellie started tumbling tonight at New Washington Elementary. She loved interacting with the other girls. She is quite flexible and many of the exercises came easy for her.

Sleepover

Ellie loves spending time with Shelby. Last week at the bonfire, she begged Shelby to spend the night. But Shelby was exhausted and just wanted to go home, but she promised Ellie that she would spend the night this weekend. Shelby called yesterday afternoon reminding us and asked if she could stay. Ellie was so excited. I had lots to do that day, and I knew it would not be until early evening that I could go get her. But every where we went, Ellie would say, "is it time to get Shelby now."

Here they are in Ellie's room on their pallets. Ellie actually stayed with Shelby most of the night. A little surprising.

Side note: Look how clean that room is. We have started a chore with Ellie. Every Sunday night before bed she has to clean up her room (normally during the week the floor is completely covered making it impossible to walk in her room. Plus when I tell her to take things to her room that she has left around the house, that means she goes to the door and drops it there. But we give her a small allowance to put in her froggie bank after she has picked up her room.


I had a baby shower to attend this afternoon and the girls were going to stay with Bob. This concerned me because I knew he had a lot to do. But he said that overall they were great. The one thing that did aggravate him was that Ellie would boss Shelby around and Shelby would let her. Shelby is such a sweet, meek person (always has been), and Bob was wanting her to stand up to Ellie--the two year old mind you.

Looks like Baby number two is going to have to be tough in order to survive around Ellie.

Congrats Candace

Today I went to a bridal shower for Candace Baird. She is about a month away from getting married. I am so happy and excited for her. She got a great start with a lot of good gift for her new married life.

Eyes Wide Open

Yesterday at church Kyle Idleman had a great sermon about praying with your eyes wide open. He did not down play the typical prayers of meal time and bed time. But he focused on being a person who is constant prayer with God. He challenged the church to open our eyes and see who really needed prayer around us, whether it was at school, work, or even in the grocery store.

What a difference praying with my eyes wide open made on day one. God had so much to show me. I hope (and pray) that I can continue to open my eyes and pray for those around me that may need God's special touch.

Family Palooza

Today our church had a family carnival event. Ellie and I went and met up with Mom, Dad, and Tyler. Ellie had a good time sliding down the slides. I am so glad that I go to a church that has such a positive impact on the community, and that they are willing to maintain that impact.

Happy Birthday Johnny and Grandma

Today we celebrated Johnny's birthday about two weeks early. He came home from Purdue for the long weekend and will not be back for a while. Janet made a very large dinner.


After dinner we had a few members of the family back over to our house to celebrate Janet's birthday (which is tomorrow). We had a bonfire and the neighbors down the road were letting off fireworks which was perfect for the evening. It was such a beautiful night, and everyone enjoyed being outside. This was one of the first cool nights in a long time.

First Day Back

This has by far been the best first day back since I have started teaching. I attribute that to the fact that I am teaching all Seniors this trimester :) I have two English 12 classes and two Governments. Everything went smoothly. And to top it off I will be getting a student teacher in a couple of weeks to take over one of my Government classes. This will be much needed to help me prepare for a sub to take over in December.

Also I went in my for 24 week check-up. All looks good, except that I have to go in a week or two for that dreaded Glucose test. YUCK. The doctor did give me a scare, though. He walks in and the first thing he says was "looks like you gained some weight this month." I thought oh no now I am gonna have to watch what I eat (only of the few perks of being pregnant...eating what you want). But then after he sees the terror in my face, he say "No, what I meant was you finally gained some weight." Apparently I had only gained about 2-3lbs in the first 5 months. I attribute that to me being sooooo sick.

We are having a yard sale Tomorrow (Friday) and Saturday at Bob's mom and dad's. 1391 Monroe Street in Charlestown.

*I am selling a lot of my good work clothes that no longer fit. Most of them come from NY and Company (size S and M), Gap, Old Navy, or American Eagle. Many of them are fall clothes. I hate to part with them, but I must come to the realization that I will never fit in them again.

*I will also have some baby and toddler clothes (Girls 3 months-2T)

*My sister-in-law will have a lot of girls clothes as well (18 1/2 girls-14 juniors) and Plus size clothes.

*Men's clothes (L, XL, XXL)

Baby #2 = GIRL

We went for our 20 week ultrasound today and the tech is pretty sure that Baby #2 is a girl. Pretty sure...because the baby was very active and in a weird position. It took a long time to get a picture of her little butt.

This pleases Ellie. She would have no part of a brother. She has even named the baby girl. So, for now baby #2 is being called Snow White.

It is hard to believe that my pregnacy is half over. December 13th will be here before I know it. I am not trying to speed this one along; however, because that just means Ellie is getting closer to 3, and that makes us sad.

Some Pregnancy Notes:

* I think I knew I was pregnant before I actually "Knew" because from about 3-11 weeks I was sick. Nausea, vomiting, lack of appetite, all that stuff you hope doesn't happen. So different then with Ellie. It didn't help that it was the last weeks of school. One week I went home early two days and didn't even come in a third day. And like with Ellie I nearly passed out on day at school.

* Maternity clothes unfortunatley came quite early. I was full maternity attire before the end of the 1st Trimester. But not complaining too much...I love me some stretchy pants.

* This summer I am constantly going to the bathroom. So much more then with Ellie. I hope this slows down when school starts or else I am praying for some calm classes.

* This pregnancy has been different then with Ellie. I often times (well once I got past the sickness) don't feel pregnant. Very weird.

* Just over the past two weeks I have really been feeling baby move. I love having that sensation constant. And it looks like this one is gonna be long (maybe longer than Ellie even) too. From the ultra sound pics, she has long arms and legs. Yay me in about two months.

Zoo

Ellie loves animals and has been asking to go to the zoo for weeks, but it has been just too hot for me. Today was overcast and not too hot so I figured if we go early then we should beat the heat. Tyler is spending the week with Mom so both came as well.

This is a sea lion. This is pretty much everything that Ellie talked about. Bob has been on several business trips to San Fransisco and there is a huge tourist attraction on a pier of sea lions. Bob had brought her back a stuff sea lion, which she named Sammy. Sammy is her "toy." The one thing she slepts with and everytime she sees a sea lion she says, "there's Sammy." So above is Sammy. Bob says there are hundreds of these things on the pier in San Fran.
