I just finished my 3rd book about 1:00 this morning. I could not sleep last night so I sat up and finished the book. Let me say, that Ellen Hopkins is definitely one of my favorite authors. She is an amazing writer. I have reluctant readers in my classes pick up her books and finish them is a day or two (we are talking almost five hundred pages of poetic verse).
One thing that is disturbing, however, is that the last three books had teen characters that cut themselves and/or purged. Is this such a big issue that I am not aware of? I did not know that it was such a problem plaguing our teens today.
Hopefully I will find a happier book with the next one.
