Is It Really Almost Over?

Today I was disappointed to wake up to it raining outside. I thought for sure that the rain was out of the area and it was going to be sunny and warm. Regardless of the rain it was not too bad in regards to the temperature. Ellie and I slept in, and then got up and ready to leave. Mom has not been feeling well so we decided to spend some time with her. We went and ran some errands, and had a crowded lunch at Panera Bread.

After I dropped Mom off Ellie, and I went to visit Grandma and Papaw Jenkins. She had fun playing with all of her toys. But once she started fighting sleep, we packed up and left for home to take a much needed nap for Mommy and Ellie.

We woke up after about an hour or so to the sun shining. So of course we had to go outside and play. I had bought Ellie a small package of Easter eggs, and I hide them around the driveway and garage. She got so excited when she was finding them. I can not wait until Easter. Bob came home a little later and we (well he) grilled some yummy hamburgers.

It is so hard to believe SB is almost over. I am sure summer will be here before we know. I can't believe that it is already almost April. This year is flying by.

Half Way Over

It is hard to believe that Spring Break is already half way done. The remaining school year will probably drag on because we have no more days off (well unless you count Memorial Day the week before we get off), but I have great things planned for my classes.

Today Ellie and I were going to hlep Meg out by watching Emily for the morning. Emily was great, she sleep most of the time only waking to eat. Ellie has started to cut more teeth--if that is possible--she keeps saying "teeth" and "eer" while tugging on her ear. Poor thing, she is asking for "more med."

This afternoon we put our rain gear on and headed out to meet up with Meg in Clarksville. After a great lunch, Meg got the courage to take Emily to get her ears pierced. She only cried for a few minutes and both Mommy and baby did great.

Now we are finishing our evening watching Idol. Ellie is so cute and enjoying it just as much as I am.

Spring Break Day Two

SB Day One was spent laying around in anticipation of going to the dentist, and then the dreaded appointment ;( BOO. But God delievered again, and I survived. The SB dentist visits are becoming a habit--I had a wisdom tooth pulled last year.

Day Two was much better. Ellie and I slept in, got some laundry done and then we got ready and headed to Jeff. We went to visit my Nanny. I feel like I never get to see her anymore because her schedule and my schedule never allows us to get together. God gave us another warm day, not as sunny, but warm none the less. Nanny fixed us a little lunch and then we had a nice visit. Ellie was entertained with some Cheerios and a few measuring cups. After a while we decided to go outside.

After we left Nanny's, Ellie and I went to Perrin Park. I was hoping the playground area was open, but not until April 1. So we walked around the trail. Well I walked and she rode. I would ask Ellie about different things on our trail (i.e. trees, birds, ducks, water, rocks) and she would call them out before I could finish saying them.

I was not ready to go home yet, so Ellie and stopped by Mom's so she could play outside in her playhouse. She is so cute, especially the phone pics---I wonder where she has learned that from? Maybe she will enjoy cooking more than her mom ;)

Little Girl, BIG attitude

It seems like over night my little baby is no longer a baby but a full blow toddler. Let me first start with the advantages so I will not seem so negative. (1) She can definately entertain herself and in most cases that is what she prefers. I was able to sit outside Saturday for over an hour reading while she played at my feet. (2) She is able to communicate much more. She will let us know when she wants to "eat" or go "byeee." She is starting to talk more rather than use sounds that we cannot understand. (3) Potty training is the future--we will start that this summer so if anyone has any suggestions of what has worked for your kids in the past please send them my way. She is not motivated by things. This child would be just as happy with the dirt and rocks in the driveway as she would with any toy in her room. (4) She is so easily entertained. As I just mentioned she could play in dirt and rocks for hours. She does not need nor prefer the bells and whistle type toys.

On to what has generated this post. She has always had a big attitude, but now it has really developed. The other night I was trying to get her into her pajamas (btw she is no longer into the footed ones, so they have been taken out of her wardrobe). She kicked and screamed the entire time I changed her. She continued to have this fit for 30 minutes, never breaking. Then she went into her room and got the shirt she had worn all day out of her laundry basket and brought it to me, all the while screaming. I had such a headache and Bob was not home so I caved and put it back on. Then she tried the same thing last night. She did not get her way this time and would not talk to either Bob or me for a while. She just stayed in her room.

Now that it has gotten warm we have been spending a lot of time outside. She loves this, but many times we have to carry her in kicking and screaming because she does not want to go in. She is fine once we find something for her to do inside, but it is such an ordeal to get her in.

The only time she really gets in trouble and earns a time-out is when she bothers Chloe. The only place in the entire house that is just Chloe's is her kennel. That is her safe place away from everyone. Ellie loves to lock Chloe in her kennel. The other day Ellie kept messing with Chloe's kennel, and I kept telling her to stay away. That worked for a while. Then she got really quiet. I went in search of her and found her playing in Chloe's water bowl "washing her hair." The floor was soaked as was her hair and clothes.

What an adventure we are going to have with this opionated self-willed toddler. :)

Lazy Sunday

We went to church on Saturday, so we slept in this morning. God blessed us with another beautiful day. Bob and I started to unload wood, and then I was saved from work by my Dad and brother. Ellie and I rode around on the 4-wheeler for a while before Meghan and Emily came over ready to grill out. YUMMY. We made an awesome lunch. After lunch Bob found his normal Sunday spot on the couch with the race turned on. Only this time he had two sleepy girls join him. Meg and I took advantage of this, we went outside to read in the sunlight

Later on Meg and I dropped Ellie and Emily off at Mom's and we headed to church for the 90s party. We had such a "blast from the past." 90s music rocked, not so sure about the clothing.

Memories of the Past

Meghan Jenkins Jacobs and my friendship goes way back. I think it began when I was a Freshman or Sophomore in high school. It was so common for us to spend the night with each other. Well obviously that ended once we got older and married. But last night we revisited the days of old. We went out to dinner at Cracker Barrel (the normal fish Friday experience), then we invited Meghan to come back to the house to spend the night. (of course that included Emily too).

We had such a good time. We laid down about 11:30, and I was expecting Miss Emily to wake us up in the middle of the night, but she didn't. She sleep until about 6:00. Meg was able to get a good nights sleep. She went back to sleep and got back up around 8:00 for good, which is the same time that Ellie normally gets up. After we got ready, we headed to the firehouse for the Crusade for Children's pancake breakfast.

4-Wheeler Fun

Today was 80s week at church. I have really been enjoying George's sermons and his take on the series of God through the decades. Meghan met us at church and both Ellie and Emily were pretty good.

After church we came home to enjoy the beautiful day. Ellie loves being outside. It is so hard to get her to come in. She is already starting to get a little tan on her arms. Thank goodness she has my complection and not her daddy's. Shelby came to the house with us, and after a few minutes and wondering what in the world to do with two little girls outside, I decided to get the 4-wheeler out.

Several days ago Mom got tickets to the Zoos birthday tea party. So we bundled up and dodged the rain. It was really cold, but over all we had a decent time.

Tonight Tricia was having a jewerly party. We did not make it when the party began, but we stopped by when we got back in town. Ellie had fun playing with all the jewerly. She even got a few things herself for Easter.

Spring is in the Air

Yah, it is finally getting warm. It was 70 degrees today. This morning when I woke up, I knew that I wanted to do something with Ellie, but I was not quite sure. Then it hit me, I needed to put my Zoo Membership to good use. I called Meg to see if she and Emily wanted to join us. So we headed to Louisville, along with the rest of the people with kids in the area. It was packed, but not annoyingly packed, which was good. We have been to the zoo several times, and several different ones, but this is the first time Ellie has really been to the zoo. She loved interacting with the animals.

Thrift Season

I loved going yard saleing last fall. It was so neat to get lots of clothes for Ellie at much cheaper prices. Well the first big yard sale of the season was this weekend. Bob, Ellie, Meg, Emily, and I went to the Little Consignment sale tonight. It had been going on for two days and you could tell, but it was not crowded and we still found a lot of very cute things for great deals.

Afterwards we went to dinner at Cracker Barrel. Ellie ate good for the first time in a week. I was so happy, now hopefully is started to come out solid.

After dinner, we stopped by Bob and Janet's. They had never seen Emily yet. Ellie got a new toy and loved it. She instantly spotted it as soon as we hit the door.

I consider us very lucky to have such a healthy baby. Besides the normal sinus/allergy problems, Ellie has never been sick. Until now. Last night after Meg and Emily left Ellie and Bob went to bed. I stayed up to read because I was not tired. Then about 11:30 I went to bed. Ellie was asleep in our bed. I laid down and she woke up and threw up everywhere. This continued until about 4:00 in the morning. Needless to say we did not make it church. We spend all day Sunday trying to catch up cleaning up from the night and trying to catch up on sleep. Ellie was fine all day but she just did not want to eat much.



Monday morning she woke up fine, but had diarrhea all day and night. Also Bob came home very ill and he started to have sharp pains in his side and spent most of the evening in the bathroom. Around bed time Ellie threw up again and Bob was in a lot of pain. His mother came and took home to the hospital (we thought it may be his gallbladder). All turned out to be ok for now, they really did not know what it was.



Ellie has had diarrhea ever since, but all is well besides that. She is a happy normal baby besides the lack of her eating and constantly filling up her diaper.



Mom took her to the doctor today. They said that everything is ok and it just has to run its course. She is doing much better tonight.
